From Progress Publisher's Soviet Novel Series comes The Cyclone. The central character is a film director, Bogdan Kolosovksy a veteran of the Second World War, who has known the bitterness of retreat and the hell of nazi imprisonment, took part in guerilla warfare and came to know the joy of victory. His war experiences are the subject of his first feature film. The book tells about the film group on location, yet it is not a novel about the film-making world.

The Cyclone should best be described as a book of lyrico-philosophical reflections on life, on man's moral and civic qualities, and his mission on earth.
